Ilie Nastase, 71, had two tennis bans reduced by eight months and his fine doubled to $20,000 following his appeal of ITF sanctions for foul-mouthed comments and misconduct as the Romanian Fed Cup captain.

Baseball: Former Yankees manager Joe Girardi is joining the MLB Network as a studio analyst. Girardi was not re-signed after 10 seasons as Yankees manager and replaced by Aaron Boone this offseason. Girardi worked for ESPN Radio during the 2003 NL Division Series, for the Yankees’ YES Network in 2004 and 2007, and for Fox in 2007 . ... Nationals catcher Raudy Read was suspended for the first 80 games of the season following a positive test for Boldenone . ... Seahawks quarterbac­k Russell Wilson was traded from the Rangers to the Yankees for future considerat­ions. Wilson, 29, is expected to be in the Yankees’ major league camp in March. An infielder, he will be assigned to the Double-A Trenton roster.

College football: USC coach Clay Helton received a contract extension through the 2023 season after leading the Trojans to their first conference title since 2008. USC is 21-6 in the past two seasons under Helton, who is the first coach in school history to win at least 10 games in each of his first two seasons as coach . ... Nebraska’s April 21 spring game at 85,000seat Memorial Stadium — the first under new coach Scott Frost — sold out in one day. This year’s attendance will break the Nebraska record of 80,149 for Bo Pelini’s first spring game in 2008.

Golf: Former Dallas Cowboys quarterbac­k Tony Romo is making his PGA Tour debut next month in the Dominican Republic. Romo, now the lead NFL analyst for CBS Sports, received a sponsor exemption to play in the inaugural Puntacana Resort & Club Championsh­ip on March 22-25.
