Indivisibles, unlike Trump, are pro-U.S.
George Bennett, in his article, “Rival Democrats Pam Keith, Lauren Baer spar over clip in campaign video” (Tuesday), continued his mischaracterization of the Indivisible movement as “anti-Trump.” We only appear anti-Trump because President Donald Trump first made it abundantly clear that he is anti-American principles.
Trump has repeatedly demonstrated he does not believe in responsible government, as evidenced by his recent budget proposal. He has demonstrated he doesn’t believe in representative government, as evidenced by his refusal to impose Russian sanctions despite 99 percent of elected representatives voting to enact those sanctions. He has demonstrated his disdain for a responsive government as demanded by the First Amendment by encouraging those who speak publicly for him to spew easily provable lies.
Most important, Trump has laid waste to much of the progress our nation has made toward achieving the foundational principle of equality, as evidenced by his repeated attacks based on gender, religion, ethnicity and sexual identity.
The Indivisible movement is not “anti-Trump.” We are pro-America. We see the promise of a nation based on the principles laid out by our Founders. And we accurately see the current Republican Party, including Trump, as actively destroying that promise for blatantly self-serving motives.
