Korda gets LPGA win after operation

Jessica Korda set a tournament record to win the LPGA Thailand at the Siam Country Club Pattaya Old Course in Chonburi. Korda held off fellow Floridian Lexi Thompson and local hope Moriya Jutanugarn for a four-stroke win after a final-round 67 for a total of 25-under 263, smashing the mark of 22 under set by Amy Yang of South Korea in 2017. Ranked No. 26, Korda had surgery on an overbite in December and was playing in her first tournament since November.

■ England’s Eddie Pepperell survived a tense finish to win the Qatar Masters at Doha Golf Club by one stroke for his first European Tour title. The 27-yearold held off compatriot Oliver Fisher with a 2-underpar 70 for a four-day total of 18 under 270. TOP 25

■ No. 2 Michigan State 68, (at) Wisconsin 63: Cassius Winston made all six of his 3-pointers and finished with 20 points to help the Spartans (28-3, 16-2) hold off the Badgers (14-17, 7-11) and earn the outright regular-season Big Ten title. Brad Davison finished with 30 points for Wisconsin (14-17, 7-11), including a 3-pointer with 4.7 seconds left that brought Wisconsin within three at 66-63 and had hometown fans holding out hope for an upset. But Miles Bridges wrapped up the Spartans’ 12th straight win with two free throws.

■ (At) No. 9 Purdue 84, Minnesota 60: Dakota Mathias matched his career high with 25 points, added seven rebounds and left to a standing ovation in his final home game as the Boilermake­rs (26-5, 15-3 Big Ten) routed the Golden Gophers (15-16, 4-14). Carsen Edwards added 18 points and seven assists for Boilermake­rs, who won their third straight after a threegame skid. Nate Mason had 18 points for Minnesota, which has lost 10 of its last 11.

■ (At) No. 11 Cincinnati 82, Tulsa 74: Gary Clark and Jarron Cumberland each had 17 points and the Bearcats (25-4, 14-2 American) topped the Golden Hurricane (17-11, 10-7). Cumberland had eight assists, and Jacob Evans added 15 points and seven assists. Junior Etou had 21 points for Tulsa, which saw its six-game win streak snapped.

■ (At) No. 20 Nevada 92, Colorado State 83: Caleb Martin scored 25 points, Jordan Caroline had 21 points and 14 rebounds, and the Wolf Pack (25-5, 14-2) clinched the No. 1 seed in the Mountain West Tournament with a victory over the Rams (11-19, 4-13). Cody Martin, Caleb’s twin brother, had 17 points and 10 assists for Nevada. Prentiss Nixon had 27 points and 10 rebounds for Colorado State.

■ (At) No. 23 Houston 109, East Carolina 58: Rob Gray had 19 points and 11 assists, Armoni Brooks added 21 points on 7-of9 shooting from 3-point range and the Cougars (22-6, 12-4 American) shot 67 percent from the field in blowing out the Pirates (10-17, 4-12). Corey Davis

Jr. chipped in 16 points, six rebounds and seven assists for the Cougars. B.J. Tyson finished with 24 points for East Carolina, which has lost three straight.

■ (At) N.C. State 92, No. 25 Florida State 72: Allerik Freeman made four of his five 3-point attempts and scored 25 points to help the Wolfpack (20-9, 10-6 ACC) roll over the Seminoles (19-9, 8-8). Torin Dorn added 19 points for N.C. State, which shot 50 percent from the floor, including 13 of 22 (59.1 percent) from 3-point range. (At) Predators 4, Blues 0: Pekka Rinne made 27 saves for his sixth shutout of the season as Nashville regained sole possession of first place in the Central Division. Rinne earned his 300th career win Thursday against San Jose. Austin Watson, Colton Sissons, Kevin Fiala and Scott Hartnell scored for the Predators, who have won four in a row. St. Louis lost its sixth straight.

(At) Sabres 4, Bruins 1: Benoit Pouliot and Kyle Okposo scored on consecutiv­e shots in the first period, and Chad Johnson made 34 saves as Buffalo beat Boston.

Red Wings 3, (at) Rangers 2 (OT): Trevor Daley won it on a tip-in with six seconds left in overtime, and Jimmy Howard finished with 36 saves.

(At) Wild 3, Sharks 2 (OT): Jared Spurgeon’s wrist shot with 12 seconds remaining in overtime lifted Minnesota. Devan Dubnyk stopped 26 shots.

NHL notes

Bruins: Boston continued solidifyin­g its playoff push by acquiring forward Rick Nash in a multiplaye­r deal with the Rangers a day before the NHL’s trade deadline that leaves New York retooling for the future. The Rangers acquired the Bruins’ first-round pick in this year’s draft as well as forwards Ryan Spooner and Matt Beleskey, defenseman Ryan Lindgren and a seventh-round pick in 2019. The Bruins also signed U.S. Olympic team captain Brian Gionta to a one-year contract.

Maple Leafs: Toronto acquired forwards Tomas Plekanec and Kyle Baun from Montreal for defenseman Rinat Valiev, forward Kerby Rychel and a second-round draft pick.
