The Breakers Palm Beach was wrapped in a beautiful blend of glittering white and silver with a touch of old movie star glamour for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County’s 37th Annual Gala, The Winter Ball. Raising nearly $1.4 million, the event broke all previous fundraising records to benefit the Club’s children. Amanda Schumacher and Lydia Forbes were chairwomen for the evening.
Every face in the room had a smile as members of the Max M. Fisher Boys & Girls Club ballroom dance team joined the professional dancers of Fred Astaire Dance Studio West Palm Beach in a spirited and wonderful dance homage to Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. Following the finale, the Boys & Girls Club dancers invited guests to the dance floor to the rousing tunes of the Project Soul Band.
Youth of the Year for the Neil S. Hirsch Family Boys & Girls Club of Wellington, Geremy Lawrence shared his inspiring story with the guests who were so moved they thanked him with a standing ovation. He told of his experience at the Club and expressed gratitude to the Club staff and supporters. “Because of you, I am going to college!” said Geremy.
