WEST PALM BEACH — A suburban West Palm Beach man was arrested this week after he allegedly kidnapped a woman and assaulted her last month.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff ’s Office arrested Brian Acosta, 37, on Wednesday on charges of false imprisonment while armed, kidnapping while armed, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

During a court hearing Friday morning at the Palm Beach County Jail, Judge Ted Booras ordered that Acosta be held on no bond for the kidnapping charge.

Acosta’s accuser told sher- iff ’s investigators she was beaten last month at a home on Wallis Road, off Southern Boulevard west of Military Trail in suburban West Palm Beach, after Acosta accused her of being involved in the theft of drugs and cash from his safe.

The woman said Acosta, known as “Flacco,” and some of his friends later coerced her into calling a man they suspected of being involved in the thefts and arranging to meet him.

That man told investigators he was beaten with a baseball bat and brass knuckles but was able to escape. The alleged victim said Acosta later drove her to an address in Opa-Locka in Miami-Dade County, where he held her against her will.

Officers from the Lantana Police Department found the woman at an address on Federal Highway after she called 911 after returning to Palm Beach County.
