Jupiter Medical Center has added Henri J. DesPlaines, Michele Deverich and Anthony Shaya , MD, to its Board of Trustees. DesPlaines serves as the chief financial officer and executive vice president of J.J. Taylor Companies, Inc. A graduate from Western New England University, DesPlaines joined the Taylor organization in 1985. He also served as general manager of J.J. Taylor Distributing Company, Inc. in Dartmouth, Massachusetts, until early 1989. DesPlaines currently is a member of Jupiter Medical Center’s finance and audit committees, and also serves on a number of other boards.
Deverich is the CEO of Strategic Healthcare Associates (SHA), a consulting firm specializing in providing investment banking firms with education and advice in a wide range of potential healthcare business pursuits. Prior to SHA, she worked at Magellan Health Services for more than five years. She is a member of the National Association of Professional Women and was appointed to Women Business Leaders of the U.S. Health Care Industry Foundation. Deverich currently serves as a member of Jupiter Medical Center’s finance committee.
Shaya has been in private practice in the Jupiter area for more than 11 years. He attended medical school at Tulane University in New Orleans. His postgraduate OB/GYN training was also completed at Tulane University/Charity Hospital. He is also a fellow of ACOG, the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is the immediate past chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Jupiter Medical Center.

Discover The Palm Beaches has appointed Erick Garnica as senior director in leisure travel industry sales. In his new role, Garnica will be responsible for providing leadership for leisure travel industry programs and overseeing development of worldwide leisure markets. Previously, Garnica served as the Director of International Sales for the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau (GFLCVB). Before joining GFLCVB in 2013, he held the position of Senior International Tourism Sales Manager at the Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau.

Jones Foster has hired Genny Bernstein as Senior Counsel in its Elder Law and Estate Planning departments. Bernstein is a Florida Bar Board Certified specialist in Elder Law. In addition to Estate Planning, Bernstein focuses in the areas of planning for long-term Medicaid, Incapacity Planning, Veteran Benefits, and Special Needs Planning. She is an Accredited Attorney for Claims Preparation, Presentation and Prosecution with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Bernstein is also a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), the Academy of Florida Elder Law Attorneys and the Palm Beach County Bar Association.

The Quantum Foundation has appointed Brian Kirkpatrick, Dr. Jessica Morlok-Prince and Dr. Ronald Romear to its Board of Trustees. Kirkpatrick is the CFO of Neptune Research, Inc., a multinational composites manufacturing company. He is also the founder and CEO of Taylor Capital, LLC, a consulting company to financial service firms. He has a Master of Business Administration from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Science in finance from University of Florida. Morlok-Prince is the Medical Director of the Pediatric Emergency Department of West Boca Medical Center, Boca Raton and Medical Director and Department Chief of the Pediatric Emergency Department, Palm Beach Children’s Hospital at St. Mary’s Medical Center, West Palm Beach. She graduated from University of Miami and pursued her Master of Science and Doctor of Medicine degrees from St. George’s University in the West Indies. Romear is the owner and managing partner of Infants and Children, P.A. in West Palm Beach. He holds his Bachelor of Science and pharmacology graduate studies degrees from Howard University, Washington, D.C., as well as a medical degree from Wayne State University.

U-Haul Company of Florida has announced that Storage Rentals of America has signed on as a U-Haul neighborhood dealer to serve the West Palm Beach community.
Storage Rentals of America, at 1016 Clare Ave. No. 3, will offer U-Haul trucks, towing equipment, moving supplies and in-store pick-up for boxes. Their business hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. After-hours dropoff is available.
Korinne Kubena Belock has relocated her professional organizing company, Urban Simplicity, to Palm Beach from New York. Belock previously spent a decade in politics, organizing campaigns and operations for former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg, as well as elected officials from Congress to The White House. She launched Urban Simplicity eight years ago while living in New York City.
