BOCA RATON — Three teenagers suspected in nearly four dozen high-end car thefts were arrested Saturday in a canal bank west of Boca Raton, the Palm Beach County Sheriff ’s Office said.

Palm Beach and Broward sheriff ’s authorities were monitoring the 16-year-old and two 17-yearolds that afternoon when the teens reportedly broke into a garage in the Saturnia community west of U.S. 441 and south of Yamato Road. They appeared to have driven there in a stolen Chrysler 300.

Authorities said the teens tried to steal a Jaguar SUV. They then tried to take a Porsche Cayenne and a BMW at different homes in the neighborhood. The teens ran away, prompting authorities to lock down the community.

The sheriff ’s helicopter and K9 unit helped agents find the teens in a nearby canal bank.

They refused to talk to authorities and were booked into the Juvenile Assessment Center on charges of burglary, resisting arrest and three counts of car theft. They also face charges of crossing a county line with the intent to commit burglary. It is unclear where the teens live.

Records indicate they are linked to at least 46 car thefts near Boca Raton, Wellington and Delray Beach. It was not immediately clear when those thefts occurred.
