Fight for a ban on assault weapons

Let’s join our children and fight for adequate gun control so that what happened in Parkland never happens again.

The actions taken by Gov. Rick Scott will help, we can hope, but a ban on assault weapons is necessary. A 17-year-old who is so mentally disturbed that he would murder innocent children unless professionally treated will not change at age 21. Arming a teacher with a pistol to fight someone with an assault weapon does not seem reasonable.

The NRA will claim that a ban is in violation of the Second Amendment and will, if necessary, bring the matter to the Supreme Court. We should welcome that so that the question can finally be resolved.
