Former Dolphins offensive lineman Jonathan Martin has been charged with making criminal threats in connection with an Instagram post that displayed a shotgun and referenced his former school by name. Martin pleaded not guilty to four felony counts of making criminal threats and a misdemeanor charge of carrying a loaded firearm, district attorney’s office spokesman Greg Risling said.

Martin’s troubling Instagram post featured a picture of a shotgun with the handles of ex-Dolphins teammates Mike Pouncey and Richie Incognito, among others – and that of his high school and the Dolphins. There are shotgun shells scattered around the gun. The words “When you’re a bully victim & a coward, your options are suicide, or revenge” appear in red letters next to the gun and shells.

Martin had a loaded 12-gauge shotgun, a large knife, an ax and a cell phone in his car, all discovered by police, according to reports. According to court documents, Martin had been “writing on the walls” of his home. He was recently placed in a medical facility because police thought he could be a danger to himself or others.

Court documents say Martin “did willfully and unlawfully threaten to commit a crime which would result in death and great bodily injury” of Pouncey and Incognito. Both men feared for their own safety and the safety of their families, the documents said.

Prosecutors said Martin is due back in court next month and faces up to six years in prison if he’s convicted.

Martin’s NFL career ended shortly after his accusations of being bullied by Dolphins teammates in 2013. That resulted in a league investigation and the firings of an assistant coach and trainer.

Pouncey lands with Chargers: Four days after he asked for his release from the Dolphins, center Mike Pouncey signed with the Los Angeles Chargers for $15 million over two years, according to the NFL Network.

Meanwhile, another Dolphins lineman released last week, defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, is continuing his free-agent tour. He has visited with the Saints and Titans. Next on his agenda is the Rams.

Ricky Williams launches marijuana line: Football never took too kindly to Ricky Williams’ affection for marijuana, but in his new business, it’s essential. Williams is launching his own brand of marijuana.

The former Dolphins running back lives in Venice Beach, Calif., where the drug has been decriminalized. Williams is going into business with a product line called Real Wellness by Ricky Williams. “I am known as a professional football player,” Williams told The South Florida Sun-Sentinel. “In the last 14 years, I have been educating myself and training as a health care practitioner.”

Williams is in business with OutCo, a dispensary and consulting firm in California. They plan to sell marijuana in dispensaries in Southern California and online.

Williams’ marijuana use led to suspensions from the NFL in his playing days, but Williams was a workhorse for the Dolphins in the early 2000s, including a team-record 1,853 rushing yards in 2002. He also gained 1,372 yards in 2003.
