Scouting for Good!
Two years after creating the Duffy’s Foundation, its chairwoman, Geri Emmett, has been elevated to the Board of Directors of the Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida. A Girl Scout during her youth, she cares deeply about teaching young girls the leadership skills to thrive in school and in future careers. In 2017, the Foundation supported the Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida with several fundraising efforts including the annual “Give a Box, Get a Box” (Cookies for the Military) program and also by hosting a Girl Scouts Cookies fundraiser at Duffy’s Sports Grill.
Geri Emmett and Executive Chef Eric Parker are currently working on a new Girl Scouts merit badge program, which will help to teach one hundred scouts healthy meal preparation and kitchen skills at Duffy’s Culinary Studio. Last year, Emmett and Parker taught four classes and additional classes will take place this summer.
Geri Emmett received the Lifetime Achievement Award for Philanthropy at the fifth annual Emerald Awards in Palm Beach. This award and her new position on the organization’s board testify to her efforts throughout the South Florida community.
Based on the charity of the restaurant’s late founder, Paul Emmett, the Duffy’s Foundation showcases the humanitarian outreach that has made Duffy’s a success since day one.
