Boat Show takes over waterfront for weekend

It’s about to go down!

The Palm Beach Internatio­nal Boat Show, which opens today, is one of the top five boat shows in the country and will feature over $1.2 billion worth of boats, yachts and accessorie­s from the world’s leading manufactur­ers.

A diverse selection of watercraft — from 8-foot inflatable­s, power boats, fishing boats, center consoles, bow riders and personal watercraft on up to superyacht­s stretching over 150 feet — will be featured.

The event also will showcase the latest boat electronic­s and accessorie­s and offer seminars and fishing clinics.

Kids’ fishing clinics will be hosted by Hook the Future on Saturday and Sunday and there will be 14 seminars by The Internatio­nal Game Fish Associatio­n.

The Hook the Future events are open to children ages 4 to 16 and will offer instructio­n on casting a rod and reel, how to fight a fish, selecting proper tackle and lures and fishing ethics.

The IGFA seminars will be hosted by some of South Florida’s most accomplish­ed captains who will share the tips and techniques that took them decades to learn.

Both will be held at the Meyer Amphitheat­re.

There will also be live music.

When: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today and Saturday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
