WEST PALM BEACH — A judge Thursday denied bond for the third person facing an attempted murder charge after a shooting Tuesday in Boca Raton.

Prosecutors say Joshua Rodrigues DePaula of Delray Beach fired the gun in a marijuana deal gone bad and hit a 16-year-old in the buttocks.

DePaula, 22, had asked for his hearing to be delayed for one day so a private attorney could be present.

Even with the delay, he joined Alan Cesaire, 21, and Alejandra Mitsuko Vasquez, 18, in being held without bond till their next court appearance.

All three were arrested on charges of attempted homicide and armed robbery.

City police said the shooting took place in a parking lot on the 500 block of Spanish River Boulevard, between Dixie and Federal highways. The 16-year-old was taken to a hospital.

In addition to denying a bond, Judge Ted Booras ordered that DePaula have no contact with his co-defendants or with the victim. Booras also was the judge who denied bond for Cesaire and Vasquez on Wednesday.
