Friends and supporters of Mounts Botanical Garden celebrate spring, raise more than $130,000

Friends of the Mounts Botanical Garden gathered more than 300 supporters, raising over $133,000 at its biggest annual fundraising event, the Mounts Spring Benefit. Co-chairs were the current and past presidents of Friends of the Mounts Botanical Garden, Sandy Smith and Polly Reed, respectively.
The threat of rain and periodic sprinkles did nothing to dampen the spirits of guests who gathered at the Palm Beach home of Douglas and Susanne Durst. Funds raised at the benefit will be used to support educational programs at Mounts Botanical Garden, including the familyfriendly and environmentallythemed exhibit, Washed Ashore: Art to Save the Sea.
The enchanting evening featured a lavish silent auction offering a diverse array of rare and exotic plants, orchids and eye-catching arrangements.
With a mission to inspire the public, Mounts Botanical Garden is Palm Beach County’s oldest and largest botanical garden. The garden contains more than 2,000 species of plants, including Florida native plants, exotic and tropical fruit trees, herbs, palms, and bromeliads.
Its annual Plant-a-Palooza spring plant sale—featuring more than 80 vendors with an amazing assortment of rare quality plants and accessories—will be held
