WEST PALM BEACH — The Great Give for Palm Beach and Martin counties is back for the fifth year with a more ambitious fund-raising goal and a larger roster of nonprofits in search of support.

The event is from midnight to midnight April 24.

This year, 485 charities are participating, up from 405 in 2017. Tuesday’s fund-raising goal: $2.25 million. In 2017, $2.1 million was raised.

Since the Great Give’s inception, 500 nonprofits have raised $10 million in Palm Beach and Martin counties.

All the participating nonprofit profiles are already published on the Great Give website, said Alexia Savage, senior vice president of communications and resource development for the United Way of Palm Beach County. “So people can start looking now. And, hopefully, discover nonprofits that they did not know about. That’s one of the great things about the Great Give.”

While the day is centered on online donations, an in-person event is planned from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at CityPlace.

The plaza will be filled with arts and crafts, animals for adoption, dancers, performers, live music, information and ways to give to nonprofits.

The public is welcome.

The United Way of Palm Beach County, Achieve, Nonprofits First and United Way of Martin County are the host partners.

Anyone with a credit card and access to the internet can donate at greatgiveflorida.org. People can also make a credit card donation by phone by calling 844-GIVE-DAY (844-448-3329).

MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express donations received through the website on the giving day will be matched from a bonus pool on a prorated basis. Donations through the Great Give Palm Beach and Martin Counties online portal to charitable nonprofit organizations are tax-deductible.

Organizations must have a current 501(c)(3) status and providing direct services in Palm Beach and/ or Martin Counties. Organizations must also be eligible to solicit funds in the state of Florida and Patriot Act compliant.
