Foles, Eagles agree to new contract

-

The Philadelphia Eagles and Nick Foles reached an agreement on a restructured contract that awards Super Bowl LII’s most valuable player with a $2 million signing bonus and creates an option year for 2019, NFL sources said. The NFL Network was first to report the revised deal.

Foles, 29, had only one year left on a two-year, $11 million contract he signed as a backup in March 2017.

Carson Wentz, who suffered a season-ending knee injury on Dec. 10, said this week that his goal was still to return by Week 1 of next season, but he also said there wasn’t a concrete timetable. Foles stepped into Wentz’s spot and helped lead the Eagles to a championship.

Ravens: A person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press the Baltimore Ravens have offered New Orleans restricted free agent receiver Willie Snead a two-year, $10.4 million contract. The Saints have five days to match the offer.

Vikings: Linebacker Kentrell Brothers was suspended for the first four games of the regular season for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing substances policy.

Former players: Former Packers RB Ahman Green avoided jail time in Green Bay, Wis., under a plea agreement in which a felony child-abuse charge was dismissed. He was sentenced to 18 months of probation. The 41-year-old pleaded no contest to criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct. Court documents show he was arrested in June after a report he had struck his daughter in the head. school. Vanderbilt averaged 5.9 points and a team-high 7.9 rebounds in 14 games during an injury-shortened season. Vanderbilt is Kentucky’s sixth underclassman to enter the June 21 draft.

Michigan: Charles Matthews said he is declaring himself eligible for the NBA draft but won’t hire an agent. He started all 41 games and averaged 13 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists in his first season playing at Michigan after transferring from Kentucky. While Matthews may come back to Michigan, Moe Wagner has decided to enter the draft and skip his senior year.

Syracuse: Guard Tyus Battle will enter his name in the NBA draft, but he’s not hiring an agent. Battle had a standout sophomore season. He led the nation in minutes and the Orange in scoring (19.2).

Kansas: Center Udoka Azubuike is declaring for the draft but is not hiring an agent. The 7-foot, 280-pound Azubuike averaged 13 points and seven rebounds while shooting 77 percent from the field, the second-best mark in NCAA history.
