VICTIM AND SUSPECT IN BAKERY SHOOTING ID’D
Man killed outside bakery Monday; suspect charged.
WEST PALM BEACH — A 28-year-old man was shot to death early Monday outside the Caribbean Choice Bakery, the Palm Beach County Sheriff ’s Office said.
Authorities found Eric Stewart dead shortly before 4 a.m. in the Coco Plum shopping plaza on North Military Trail south of Community Drive.
They quickly detained Omari Fenton, 32, who was arrested later that morning on a first-degree murder charge. He was expected to be booked into the Palm Beach County Jail by Monday afternoon. A full sheriff ’s report on the shooting was not available Monday afternoon.
Records show Fenton lived in West Palm Beach as recently as December. He was cited that month for driving without proof of car insurance. West Palm Beach police picked him up near his home in The Villages of Palm Beach Lakes.
Other than traffic citations, Fenton does not appear to have a criminal history in Palm Beach County. He was married in 2014 in the county, according to court records.

The fatal shooting was the 27th confirmed homicide in Palm Beach County during 2018, according to a Palm Beach Post online database.
The sheriff’s investigation early Monday temporarily roped off the shopping plaza as employees of its businesses were arriving for work.
