Palm Beach County charities cumulatively now have $1.8 million more than they did Monday following the Great Give, a massive, 24-hour online fundraising campaign that provided a platform for new donors to get hooked up with 485 organizations.

In total, 7,436 donors gave $1,808,095.06 to 425 organizations, which was close to last year’s total of $2.1 million. Big Dog Ranch Rescue was the leader in both number of donors at 490 and money raised at $84,200, according to greatgiveflorida.org.

Rounding out the top five in money received are El Sol: Jupiter’s Neighborhood Resource Center at $77,220, the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast at $64,291, Bethune-Cookman National Alumni Association at $64,139 and The Pine School at $55,466.55. El Sol was a recipient in the Palm Beach Daily News’ toy drive in December.

At No. 7 was the Historical Society of Palm Beach County, which brought in $39,691 from 63 donors.

President and Chief Executive Officer Jeremy Johnson said this is the highest ranking the organization has ever achieved and the most money raised. “I think it was a great day for our community. So many nonprofits benefited from so many levels of support,” he said.

The money will go toward the organization’s traveling education trunks — which are lent to schools to give teachers hands-on history materials to use in the classrooms. They’ll also use the money for area schools’ field trips to the Historical Society, as well as for preserving the historical archives.

Other local charities that raised the most include: No 8: Palm Beach Island Hospice Foundation, $38,650; No. 11, Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League, $32,930; No. 26, Adopt-A-Family of the Palm Beaches, $18,505.19; No. 28, The Lord’s Place, $15,708; No. 30, Dreyfoos School of the Arts Foundation, $14,635; No. 35, CROS Ministries, $13,836.28; No. 39, Palm Beach County Food Bank, $11,911; No. 60, Hanley Foundation, 7,210.50; and No. 78, Palm Beach Habilitation Center, $5,421.44.
