Vets deserve leader who’s responsive

- TEQUESTA

If former U.S. Rep. Jeff Miller, R-Fla., is in contention for Veterans Affairs secretary, I suggest Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., also receive consideration.

Neither has done anything for our veterans while they served on their respective Veterans Affairs committees. I have sent letters requesting assistance in my case and on behalf of all veterans and received nothing from Miller and a cursory reply from Sanders suggesting I contact my local representative.

Perhaps Sanders can promote his “free” programs to support all veterans. We handsomely pay our hired representatives to work on our behalf.

Sen. Bill Nelson and former Rep. Patrick Murphy and Rep. Brian Mast did take the time to respond and request information regarding my case. My thanks to them for stepping up to respond to a reasonable request.

Of note, Sen. Marco Rubio never took the time to reply to my request. I never bothered again nor did I vote for Rubio in the primaries. He didn’t earn it. Also of note, Miller is now a lobbyist in Washington. Wonder what he lobbies for.

And so it goes in The Swamp...

Pay attention, veterans, and contact your representatives if the VA is to become manageable and supportive of promises made during our service to our country.
