LAKE WORTH — Palm Beach County Sheriff’s authorities arrested a second man Wednesday in connection with a shooting last week at a Lake Worth apartment.

Lionel Webb, 30, was booked Wednesday afternoon into the Palm Beach County Jail on charges of attempted murder, shooting into an occupied building and aggravated assault.

Judge Dina Keever-Agrama ordered the West Palm Beacharea man, who listed his occupation on police records as “drug dealer,” to be held without bond during a hearing Thursday morning.

Edward Fernandez Jr., 35, also faces charges in the May 3 incident. He is being held in jail without the possibility of posting bond.

The incident began that Thursday morning when a woman confronted Webb at an apartment building just south of 11th Avenue South on Federal Highway.

She told police Webb was loudly talking on the phone while standing outside her door.

Webb told the woman, who was standing just inside her apartment, to have “her man” come do something about it. She said he had nothing to do with their argument.

Webb punched her, she said, and broke the baby gate she kept at the doorway to keep her dog inside.

Fernandez then appeared in the doorway, pulled out a gun and pointed it at her head.

The woman’s “man,” a friend the woman said was at her home to celebrate his 47th birthday, stepped between Fernandez and the woman and stabbed Fernandez in the chest. The woman said he was protecting her.

Fernandez opened fire, repeatedly shooting the man, according to the report. He and the man who was on the cellphone fled the scene, the woman said.

Authorities found four spent shell casings outside an apartment door.

The man was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach for gunshot wounds to his leg, buttocks, elbow and thigh.

About the time that man arrived at St. Mary’s, someone dropped off Fernandez at JFK Medical Center in Atlantis for treatment of the stab wound to his chest, authorities said.

Records indicate Webb was sentenced to seven years in prison for burglary in 2004. He was released from state custody in 2012.
