Trump parade would be waste of money

- BOCA RATON

If parade is a go, those who vote yes must go.

I just read that the

House and Senate will be voting on funding for the $30 million military salute to himself that President Trump has requested.

This reaches a new level of offensive absurdity.

It is an insult to the people of Flint, Mich., who still have issues with clean drinking water. It is an insult to the people of devastated Puerto Rico, who seem to have been forgotten. It is an insult to our education system where teachers have to strike for adequate facilities, supplies and wages. It is an insult to every American traveling on crumbling roads and bridges. It is an insult to every veteran who served, even if they had the discomfort of bone spurs.

Our Congress will not have the courage to say no, nor will they be able to find the money to fix what needs fixing. Perhaps they should set up a GoFundMe page for this ridiculous display. They can pass a tax bill that benefits the rich while the poor get poorer, but somehow can’t fund our country’s everyday needs.

I’m sure I am not alone in my frustration and anger. So I hope everyone will recognize the importance of the upcoming elections and vote for candidates of either party who will put people’s needs first.
