GARDENS MEDICAL CENTER GETS NEW CEO
PALM BEACH GARDENS — Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center named Trey Abshier its new chief executive officer this week.
Abshier comes from the 459-bed Florida Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, where he was the CEO. Both hospitals are part of the Tenet Healthcare network. Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center is a 199bed acute care hospital known for its heart care.
During Abshier’s tenure, Florida Medical Center opened the Atrial Fibrillation Institute to provide care to patients with the common defect of an irregular heartbeat. The hospital also opened specialty surgical suites for post-surgery patients to recover, according to a news release.
Abshier was the chief operating officer at Delray Medical Center for 2½ years before he went to Florida Medical Center, according to the release. He served as the lead administrator for the development, design and construction of a new four-story patient tower and fivestory parking garage at Delray Medical Center. He also led the development of a free-standing emergency department.
Abshier is Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center’s fourth CEO in a little over three years. It’s not unusual for the hospital’s CEOs to leave for higher positions within Tenet.
Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center’s most recent CEO, Dianne Goldenberg, left the post for a job with the network’s corporate division, according to a hospital spokesman. She became CEO in June 2017.
Goldenberg succeeded Jeff Welch as CEO after he took a position with Tenet as a market CEO overseeing three hospitals in Massachusetts. Welch came from Coral Gables Hospital, also part of the Tenet network.
