Summertime safety: Wellington will have a free SPLASH — Safety and Prevention Leaves All Swimmers Happy — event from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Wellington Aquatics Complex, 12072 Forest Hill Blvd. Pediatric doctors from Palms West Hospital and Palm Beach County Fire Rescue first responders will be present to advise attendees on water-safety issues. Wellington lifeguards and Fire Rescue personnel will demonstrat­e a near-drowning. For more informatio­n, go to wellington­fl.gov.

Seafood Festival: The reschedule­d Royal Palm Beach Seafood Festival is from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Royal Palm Beach’s Commons Park, 11600 Poinciana Blvd. Event organizers expect the festival to draw thousands of people to try a range of seafood dishes including fish, conch, lobster, shrimp, oysters and crabs. There will be nonseafood dishes as well, and tents for dining.

Admission and parking are free. Guests can check out an entertainm­ent lineup that includes live music from rock, reggae and ska group Making Faces, island and Caribbean tunes from Bamboo, reggae from Sweet Justice, and solo acts Davee Bryan, George E. Manosis and Karen House. Headliners are Bad Company tribute group Bad Inc. and Foreigner tribute band 4NR2 on Saturday; and Jimmy Buffett tribute band The Caribbean Chillers on Sunday.

More than 100 vendors will sell a range of goods, including nautical-themed items. On Sunday there will be a classic and custom car show. Children can check out the Little Fins Kids Zone with bounce houses, games and slides. Wristbands for activities will be on sale. Children also can pose for photos with one of the mermaids and pirates walking through the festival.

The festival will be a drop-off point for donations to The Children’s Healing Institute. Items on the group’s wish list include board games, card games, lawn games, books, coloring books, puzzles, Play-Doh, educationa­l and developmen­tal toys, dolls, sporting goods, Legos and baby items, including onesies and bottles.

Shred Fest: Check out RADS Shred Fest, Royal Palm Beach’s first skateboard­ing festival, from 3 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the skate park at the Royal Palm Beach Recreation Center, 100 Sweet Bay Lane. Competitor­s must be age 10 or older, pay a $10 registrati­on fee and sign a liability waiver before the event begins. There will be four categories of competitio­n.
