BOCA RATON — An Olympic Heights High School student was arrested Wednesday after reportedly posting on Snapchat a picture of cars in the campus parking lot implying he put plastic explosives on them.

“I’ve strapped C-4 to every car in the student parking lot. If you try to leave early it will detonate,” the post read.

Jose Calderon, 19, who lives west of Delray Beach, faces an intimidation charge. He told sheriff’s authorities the Snapchat, which he posted from school Tuesday morning, was “funny and a joke.”

Calderon was suspended from school, sheriff ’s records show.

In court Thursday, Judge Ted Booras ordered Calderon be held on a $50,000 bond and placed on in-house arrest with an ankle monitor if released.

He cannot have contact with any Palm Beach County schools.

Calderon is the second Palm Beach County teenager in as many days to face charges under the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act (SB 7026). The act, passed in March, raises penalties for those who threaten schools.

David Puy, 19, a former Spanish River High School student, reportedly posted a Snapchat video Tuesday afternoon captioned, “On my way, school shooter.”

He did not mention a specific school in the post and told investigators he “wasn’t thinking” when he made the post.

Puy remains in the county jail in lieu of a $50,000 bond.

In a message sent out to Olympic Heights High School parents, Principal Dave Clark addressed Calderon’s arrest and details of the threat.

“We remain committed to providing a safe and secure learning environment for our students, and look forward to safely closing out the 2018 school year,” Clark said in the recorded message.
