BOYNTON BEACH — Boynton Beach police say they arrested six teens — ages 13 to 18 — who they believe are responsible for “numerous” car burglaries on the west side of the city. They credited an “astute resident” for helping them.

Jessica Tassy called city police Monday to report s ever alpeople rummaging through a silver Infiniti on Northeast 17th Avenue south of the Gateway Boulevard and Federal Highway intersection. That started an investigation that led to the six arrests and recovery of three stolen vehicles: a red Ford F-150, the silver Infiniti and a red Toyota Corolla.

Five of those arrested are juveniles. They face charges of grand theft auto, burglary to auto, fleeing and eluding, trespass to a conveyance and resisting without violence, and were taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center, said Stephanie Slater, police spokeswoman. The sixth arrested is Max Pierre, 18, of Boynton Beach. He faces a charge of burglary of a conveyance.

The owner of the Infiniti that was seen being rummaged through, Arys Martinez, told police she reported her car stolen to Boca Raton police. She said her car was parked at her Boca Raton home overnight. She left her key and her Tory Burch purse inside. Police found her purse on one of the juveniles they arrested, according to an arrest report. The six were taken into custody at or near the scene, according to police.
