Schools have gall to seek more tax money
It almost defies imagination, the chutzpah of the School Board and the school administration.
Barely a year after clipping the taxpayers with a disingenuously promoted penny sales tax increase, which in reality was a 17 percent sales tax increase to build schools or whatever it is they use it for, they want more (“PBC schools chief calls for $150M hike in property taxes,” Saturday).
I believe it’s already generating more than $500 million in annual new revenue. The teachers deserve more money but none of us deserve the lampooned bloat of the administrative estate located in the rightly nicknamed Taj Mahal school administration building.
Any competent businessman in 15 minutes could walk through that building and cut $150 million in costs without any effect on the education programs.
