A West Palm Beach man is in custody after he was accused of pointing a rifle at a woman, her boyfriend and her children, according to Boynton Beach Police.

Draiton Telfort, 23, was arrested on three charges of aggravated assault with a firearm and one count of child abuse. He remains in the Palm Beach County Jail on $40,000 bail, according to official records.

At about 3 p.m. on June 4, Telfort called a woman he had two children in common with and asked where she was, police said. He said in one phone call that he was outside her house, police said.

The woman and her boyfriend drove the children to her mother’s house. When they exited the car, Telfort was there and pointed a rifle at them, including the 1-yearold baby in her boyfriend’s arms, police said.

Telfort fought with the man, which caused the baby to fall to the floor, police said. The woman was able to pick up the baby and put her foot down on the rifle’s barrel, according to the report. He then fled, holding the magazine for the rifle, police said.

During the fight over the rifle, the muzzle of the gun was pointed at the two older children, police said. The 1-year-old got a bruised lip after falling.

The woman said Telfort had told her he has trouble seeing her with another man and planned to shoot her and her boyfriend, according to the report.
