Summer fun options abound

-

Now that school is out and summer is in session, it’s time to find some boredom busters for the kiddos at home.

Here are a few options in and around Palm Beach Gardens:

Picnic at the pool Spending the day at the pool with friends is a summer rite of passage, and the city’s aquatic complex has something for swimmers of all ages — a 25-yard pool for laps and water aerobics, a 12-foot dive well, a diving board, three water slides, a rock-climbing wall and a splash zone. The splash zone with a play pool and spray pad is newly renovated.

If you’re interested in gathering a few other parents and their children for a picnic at the pool, areas with picnic tables with umbrellas, shelters, shade trees or tents are available for rent and come with 20 pool admissions.

■ Details: 4404 Burns Road, next to the Recreation Center.

■ The daily admission fee is $3.55 for residents and $11.15 for non-residents.

■ Visit https://bit.ly/2LReVJb for daily pool hours.

Burn off steam at the play gym - As we all know, the afternoon weather during Florida summers can be fickle at best. If your pool play date gets rained out, Triumph Kids is a popular play gym with open hours, camps, classes and special events. The sensory gym has equipment, toys and activities for children as old as 10 to enjoy. That includes swings, a zip line, trampoline, tumbling area and reading area.

It has a quiet room for kids who need a break from all the stimulation and a parent area with free Wi-Fi in open view of the play area.

Triumph Kids fills a void now that Cool Beans Indoor Playground & Cafe has closed in Downtown at the Gardens.

■ Details: 9840 Alternate A1A, Suite 402 in the Promenade Plaza shopping center.

■ Daily passes are available for $14, $12 for siblings.

■ Visit http://gotriumphkids. com/our-gym/ for details.

Get young children excited about STEM - Palm Beach Gardens’ Riverside Youth Enrichment Center is offering an introduction to STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics)/sensory camp for 4- and 5-year-old children.

The camp will offer STEM activities that are fun, educational and hands-on.

■ Details: 10170 Riverside Drive

■ Camp is 9 a.m. to noon. You can sign children up for June 18-22, June 25-29 or July 16-20.

■ The cost is $125 for residents or $157 for non-residents. Register online or in person at any Palm Beach Gardens Recreation service desk.
