WEST PALM BEACH — A West Palm Beach restaurant was closed temporarily following inspections in June that found several high-priority violations.

A June 21 inspection of Yaad Spice Restaurant, at 2100 45th Street in West Palm Beach resulted in 13 violations.

An inspector found sewage and waste water backing up through the floor drains, and a cook walked through the standing water and tracked it through the kitchen.

Eight live roaches were found behind a cooler and under shelving in the kitchen. Small flying insects were congregated near a vegetable bin in the kitchen and on table tops in the dining area. The vegetables were moved to covered bins, and the area with roaches was cleaned and sanitized.

The restaurant was also cited for other violations including temperature abuse, which could have led to potentially hazardous food.

A manager could not be reached for comment.

Several Palm Beach County establishments had perfect inspections, including Lake Worth’s El Torito Sport Pub & Cantina at 4469 South Congress Ave. Ste. 107 and Cocina Mexicana at 4420 Lake Worth Road.

Haagen Dazs, at 6000 Glades Road #1161b, and Mutual Of America Cafeteria, at 1150 Broken Sound Pkwy., in Boca Raton, also received perfect inspections.
