WELLINGTON — A popular fitness chain with a loyal following opens its third Palm Beach County location this month.

CycleBar is scheduled to start offering its unique brand of cycling fitness classes July 19 in Wellington’s Kobosko’s Crossing shopping plaza, franchise owner Erin Schiller said.

The studio features a CycleTheater, with bikes arranged facing the instructor and two flat-screen TVs. Lighting rigs and a stereo system let instructors customize their 45-minute sessions to energize participants and create a rock concert-style atmosphere.

Schiller said it’s unlike any other fitness space. “It’s an experience,” she said.

The studio will offer concierge-level service, with water, towels and shoes included in the price of each class, Schiller said. CycleBar bikes keep track of each rider’s statistics, which are emailed to them at the end of each session.

“If they’re trying to track their performance, it’s a good way to see where they started and how they’ve progressed,” she said.

Schiller, a 35-year-old Wellington resident, began her career as an assistant state attorney in Fort Lauderdale. After moving to New Jersey, she began training at YogaWorks to teach yoga, and later taught classes at a nearby college. But she wanted to open her own studio, and soon learned about CycleBar.

She was drawn to the franchise by its inclusive nature, she said. The company encourages studios to become spaces for social gatherings, and the Wellington CycleBar plans to offer Wine Wednesdays and Sunday brunches, Schiller said.

The company’s CycleGiving program — in which studios can partner with local charities to have fundraisers — also drew her in. The Palm Beach Gardens CycleBar raised more than $200,000 in May for the American Heart Association. “I used to represent abused children and domestic-violence victims,” she said. “This is a way for me to keep giving back.”

During its grand opening week, July 19-26, clients can ride three times for free, Schiller said.

Schiller also is offering a grand opening special rate of $99 a month for unlimited rides. For information, go to wellington.cyclebar.com or call 561-444-3185.

The first CycleBar in Palm Beach County opened last year in Palm Beach Gardens on Donald Ross Road.

That was followed by a studio in Boca Raton. A fourth franchise is looking for space in downtown West Palm Beach, she said.
