HelpLine there for teens in crisis

-

Regarding “Schools face obstacles in staffing for mental health” (Sunday), it is more crucial now than ever ... students are made aware of 2-1-1 HelpLine.

The caring staff at 2-1-1 are available any time of day or night. Teens who are overwhelmed, in need of services or who just want to talk can simply dial 2-1-1 or text message to TXT211 (898211) or even chat online at 211palmbeach.org . ...

2-1-1 is also a crisis line, dedicated to suicide prevention efforts and is the local responder to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273TALK (8255).

Other initiatives: It is also important to note that several hundred school teachers and other staff have completed Mental Health First Aid courses, including school nurses and district police. The school district also has a “We’re All In” campaign helping students reach out to staff who are welcoming to talk to.

... there are numerous mental health partners who can help teens and their families. If you would like to be a part of the broader community conversation on mental health, join the Action Alliance for Mental Health.
