Beauty of woman killed by alligator

-

Romy Ellenbogen’s story, “Body of missing woman killed by gator is found, FWC says” ( June 10), about the animal-loving, gentle Shizuka Matsuki, who lost her life to an alligator attack while walking her dogs, touched a deep chord of admiration for the Japanese woman.

In a time with so much dark news, this story was beautifully written, painting a story that left me with a deep appreciation for how she used her love to save endangered animals any way she could.

The fact that one of her dogs was injured as she was killed by a 12-foot alligator leads me to believe the dog was attacked and the tiny woman went to its rescue and lost her life in the attempt to save it. What a wonderful woman she was, a bright light in a darkened time.

Thank you, Romy, for sharing a tragic story but revealing the beauty of the woman who gave us a glimpse of what we have lost.
