Town holds splash-park meeting
NORTH PALM BEACH — The town will hold a public meeting Tuesday to discuss plans for a children’s splash park next to the pool. The meeting will seek residents’ input on the proposed play area and whether the town should apply for a $250,000 Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program Grant to help finance it, said village communications manager Ed Cunningham
The splash park is a bigger portion of the country club’s many renovations that started a couple weeks ago, Cunningham said. Proposed features include refillable water buckets and interactive spray items adjacent to the pool so adults can see their children in plain view.
The meeting is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Anchorage Park activities building.
Meanwhile, the pool, previously closed for clubhouse renovations, reopened to the public on Friday.
A majority of country club facilities remain under construction while the town builds a new 37,000 square-foot clubhouse and restaurant scheduled to open in the late summer of 2019. The clubhouse will include a new community and banquet facility, a pro shop, locker rooms and storage for Village golf carts — an estimated $18 million project.
The Jack Nicklaus Signature 18-hole golf course also is closed to replace the grass with new sod and will re-open in December. The tennis center remains open, but brief closures may be needed during the construction process, the town said. Notices of any closures will be posted on the town’s web page.
