BOCA RATON — The SUV that caused a crash Monday that sent eight people to a hospital contained six people from Broward County, all but one of them juveniles, the Palm Beach County Sheriff ’s Office said Tuesday.

The six people riding in the 2005 Acura MDX ranged in age from 19 to 15, according to a Sheriff ’s Office report. Initially, Boca Raton police said there were five suspects in the vehicle.

All six were taken to trauma centers. The lone adult in the SUV, Omar Khan, 19, of Fort Lauderdale, was in critical condition. The juveniles all were in serious condition.

Boca Raton police said people in the SUV were involved in an armed robbery Monday morning on Federal Highway.

No information on any charges was available as of Tuesday. The Palm Beach Post does not name minors unless and until they are charged as adults.

The Acura was speeding west on Palmetto Park Road after apparently fleeing the scene of the robbery when it entered the intersection at Northwest 12th Avenue, possibly at a red light, according to the Sheriff ’s Office.

The driver of a 2016 Toyota Sienna, Ademir Dos Santos De Paula, 48, of Boca Raton, was heading east on Palmetto Park Road and turning left onto Northwest 12th when the Acura crashed into his front passenger side, according to the report.

De Paula was taken to Delray Medical Center with critical injuries. A Boca Fire Rescue spokesman said both he and Khan are expected to recover.

After being hit, De Pau- la’s car spun and crashed into the passenger side of a 1996 Ford Ranger driven by Dennis Krantz, 68, also of Boca Raton.

Krantz sustained minor injuries but was still taken to a trauma center because of his age, according to a Boca Fire Rescue spokesman.

The driver of the Acura was a 17-year-old from Fort Lauderdale. Other passengers in the car of five men and one woman came from Pompano Beach and Coral Springs, according to the report.
