NORTH PALM TIDAL TOWN HALL TO FOCUS ON SEA LEVEL

NORTH PALM BEACH — Solutions for sea-level rise and flflooding will be the subject of a Tidal Town Hall in North Palm Beach today.

Tidal Town Halls are being held in 15 cities throughout Florida, giving voters the opportunit­y to meet with candidates and have a discussion on issues related to climate change. Town halls have been held in Fort Lauderdale, Santa Rosa Beach, Ponte Vedra Beach and Brandon.

The events are sponsored by the First Street Foundation and ReThink Energy F l o r i d a , n o n p r o f i t s t h a t work to inform “citizens and elected offifficia­ls on the risks, causes and solutions to sealevel rise and flflooding” and “educating, engaging and empowering the citizens of Florida to achieve energy independen­ce,” respective­ly, according to the Tidal Town Halls website.

The candidates who have confifirme­d their attendance at today’s event, according to ReThink Energy Florida’s Laura Aguirre, are Congressio­nal District 18: Dave Cummings; state Senate District 30: Rubin Anderson and Bobby Powell Jr.; state House District 81: Mindy Koch; state House Di stric t 89: James Bonfiglio, Michael Caruso and Ryan Anthony Rossi; Palm Beach County Commission District 2: Emmanuel Morel, Sylvia Sharps and Gregg Weiss; and Port of Palm Beach Group 5: Joseph Anderson, Scott Holtz and John Sansbury.

The North Palm Beach town hall is also hosted by Lake Worth Waterkeepe­r and the Boca Raton chapter of the Citizens’ Climate Lobby.

The event will be from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at First Unitarian Universali­st Congregati­on of the Palm Beaches, 635 Prosperity Farms Road.
