MMA fighter, victim argued before stabbing
Knife attacks on man, woman lead to arrest, attempted murder rap.
JUPITER — An argument between former MMA fighter Danny Lynn Tims III and a 37-year-old Palm City man preceded the stabbing that led to Tims’ arrest last weekend on an attempted murder charge, according to an arrest document made public Monday.
Authorities said Tims stabbed the other man in the heart with a knife, and stabbed the man’s girlfriend’s in the thigh Saturday afternoon in Jupiter before stealing the woman’s purse and fleeing in her car.
The arrest report indicates that Tims, 29, and the woman are roommates but does not specify what led to the argument.
The stabbing took place shortly before 4:45 p.m. Saturday at the Jupiter Cove apartments on Thelma Avenue, off Center Street north of Indiantown Road.
Tims was arrested about 30 minutes later when Jupiter police spotted him in the woman’s stolen Chevrolet at Indiantown and Central Boulevard, according to the arrest report.
Tims remained in the Palm Beach County Jail on Monday after Judge Leonard Hanser set his bail at $653,000 during a bond hearing at the jail Sunday.
Tims faces charges of attempted first-degree murder, robbery by sudden snatching, aggravated battery and grand theft auto.
The man whom Tims allegedly stabbed remained hospitalized at St. Mary’s Medical Center in critical condition, a spokesman for the West Palm Beach hospital said Monday. The other stabbing victim was treated Saturday at Jupiter Medical Center, receiving seven to eight stitches, according to the arrest report.
Tims is a former Mixed Martial Arts fighter who fought in the Kansas City, Mo., area. His last MMA fight was in 2015. Several websites listed his professional record as 10-5-1.
Palm Beach County court records do not show a prior criminal history for Tims.
