JUPITER — A natural and organic grocery chain soon may sprout a location in Jupiter.

An application for Sprouts Farmers Market has been filed with the town to replace the closed Winn-Dixie at 3757 Military Trail in the Admirals Crossing plaza, according to town spokeswoman Kate Moretto.

Jupiter Palms Associates LLC, a subsidiary of Konover South, owns the property and plans to create the grocery store in 30,900 square feet of the current space, with 20,683 square feet available for future retail space, according to documents submitted on June 15. The town is requiring that Island Designs Inc., the agent for the proposal, resubmit plans to supply more information and address comments made by the Development Review Committee.

The applicant has requested an administrative review, meaning the plan could be approved without a public meeting.

Moretto said no plans have been submitted for the former Winn-Dixie at 6707 W. Indiantown Road. Both locations closed in April, among nearly 100 others that closed after parent company Southeastern Grocers filed for bankruptcy.

There are five Sprouts locations in Florida, all concentrated in the Tampa Bay area. A store in Winter Park is slated to open in October, and two others are planned in Wellington and Deerfield Beach.
