PIX PERFECT: WHERE TO TAKE A PHOTO FIT FOR FRAMING
Nine Instagram-worthy photo ops in central Palm Beach County.
As I was sort of ranting in my newsletter: My family doesn’t do a very good job taking pictures of me, but they’ll gladly pose for my lens on family trips. In fact, they basically force me to take their photos, because who got a degree in broadcast journalism? This guy. So, I’ve become their free photographer. It’s all good, though. I love that I have so many pictures to help me remember moments.
I suggest you start taking more pictures of your family too, and fewer of whatever you had for breakfast. It’s nice to go back and see how much we’ve changed, and to re-live a memory again and again. Also, start printing photos! Your great-greatgreat grandchildren won’t have access to all of your apps and passwords. Don’t let your photos get lost in the cloud. (Nobody really knows how the heck that works anyway.)
So this week’s itinerary is all about finding great places to take your family out to snap some photos.
Go for vintage backdrops
Flagler Museum (Palm Beach): Whether you’re inside or outside, the historic Henry Morrison Flagler house/museum will give you #housegoals.
Keep it natural
Mounts Botanical Gardens (West Palm Beach): The beach is great, but sometimes we need a little green in our lives. What better place than a botanical garden?
Look for murals
Downtown West Palm Beach’s changing public art and murals (West Palm Beach): Lucky for us, the city is full of talented artists showcasing their skills on walls all around the downtown. Find their work in garage stairwells, open lots on Clematis Street, the Alexander Lofts downtown, under bridges and even on the side wall of Subculture Coffee.
Smize in front of sculptures
Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens (West Palm Beach): We all know Norton for the museum, but what about its hidden gem: the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens? Now’s the perfect time to check it out.
Speaking of sculptures …
EmKo (West Palm Beach): Artist-types and hipsters unite at EmKo — where creative, Andy Warhol-inspired art fills the walls and spaces inside and out. Even the seating is photo-worthy.
Hang with the hipsters
Northwood Village (West Palm Beach): The hidden gem of West Palm Beach, Northwood is another hipster magnet — a road filled with wall art, coffee shops, drum circles and boutique shops. Did we mention wall art? Yeah, get your camera ready.
Pose with your SO
Worth Avenue Clock Tower (Palm Beach): Cue the romantic music and a playful kiss with your significant other, because this is a spot for lovebirds.
Find art inside and out
Cultural Council of Palm Beach County (Lake Worth): What better place for a
