WESTPALMBEACH— A 22-yearold man pleaded guilty Monday morning to charges in a DUI crash that killed a man in 2016 near West Palm Beach.

Ajinkya Kelkar of West Palm Beach was sentenced by Palm Beach County Circuit Judge Glenn Kelley to six years in prison for DUI manslaughter, leaving the scene of a crash involving death, reckless driving and driving under the influence causing or contributing to injury. Once released from prison, Kelkar will be on probation for five years and must take a DUI course and complete any recommended treatment, according to court records.

On July 16, 2016, three cars were involved in a crash just after 4 a.m. at Okeechobee Boulevard and Military Trail, according to county sheriff’s deputies. Victor Cuxun-Bolvito, 38, was sitting in the back passenger-side seat of a blue 2001 Toyota Corolla when Kelkar, driving a gray 2016 GMC Sierra pickup, slammed into the back of the vehicle. A third vehicle was hit after the two other cars crashed. All of the drivers had minor injuries, and the front passenger in the Toyota was seriously injured, according to the Sheriff ’s Office report.

Cuxun-Bolvito died at the scene.

Kelkar, who was stopped by law enforcement several miles from the scene, told investigators he had fled the area after he realized someone had died.

Kelkar, who was 20 at the time of the wreck, said he had been drinking Long Island iced teas before the crash. Two hours after the crash, a blood sample taken from Kelkar indicated his blood-alcohol level was 0.12. In Florida, the legal threshold for intoxication is 0.08.
