Ex-girlfriend suing Bills’ McCoy after July home invasion

-

LeSean McCoy’s ex-girlfriend is suing the Buffalo Bills running back for failing to protect her after she was bloodied, beaten and had $133,000 worth of jewelry stolen during a home invasion on July 10. Delicia Cordon also alleges in a lawsuit filed in Fulton County, Ga., on Friday that McCoy would “often brutally beat his dog,” and would also “aggressively, physically discipline and beat his young son.”

Without blaming McCoy for playing a role in the home invasion, Cordon accuses him of breaching his duty to protect her because he owned the home. She also says McCoy “permitted a hazardous condition to exist” by installing a security system and cameras and denying her access to arm the system. A phone and email message left with McCoy’s lawyer by the Associated Press was not immediately returned. Police in Milton, Ga., are still investigating and haven’t identified a suspect.

Broncos: QB Paxton Lynch inched closer to fullblown bust status when he was demoted to third string after Chad Kelly’s solid debut in the exhibition opener. Lynch, whom the Broncos moved up to draft in the first round in 2016 out of Memphis, was beaten out by seventh-rounder Trevor Siemian each of the last two summers and now has fallen behind another seventh-rounder.

Browns: WR Jarvis Landry said he would love free agent Dez Bryant to join him in Cleveland. Landry said he has been in touch with the threetime Pro Bowler released by Dallas in April. Landry said the Browns would welcome Bryant and that he would bring “attitude” and give the team another playmaker.

The Browns are working on scheduling a meeting with Bryant this week.

Giants: The Giants had a hold-your-breath moment with rookie RB Saquon Barkley. It turned out to be only a minor scare. The No. 2 draft pick caught a pass during practice and may have injured himself running down the sideline after the catch. He seemed to favor a leg. He eventually put his hands on his knees and then went to the turf and lay on his back while head trainer Ronnie Barnes examined him.

An ice pack, put on his left leg, was removed before he left the field after practice. “Saquon has a mild strain, and we’ll be smart with him,” coach Pat Shurmur said.

49ers: San Francisco is bringing in Alfred Morris to provide depth at running back while they deal with injuries, coach Kyle Shanahan said. Morris, 29, was a sixth-round draft pick of Washington in 2012 when Shanahan was the offensive coordinator. He rushed for 2,888 yards and 20 TDs in his first two seasons.

The 49ers are dealing with injuries to their top two running backs following their preseason opener. Jerick McKinnon suffered a calf injury Sunday and is expected to be out at least a week. His backup, Matt Breida, separated his shoulder against Dallas on Thursday and could miss the entire preseason.

Vikings: Placed guard Nick Easton on injured reserve with a neck injury that likely ended his season. The Vikings also signed guard Kaleb Johnson.
