Ohio State trustees will meet on Meyer
Ohio State trustees set a private Wednesday meeting to talk about the future of coach Urban Meyer, the subject of an investigation into the handling of domestic-abuse allegations against a former assistant coach. The university said fact-finders were briefing the board Monday and the panel will convene in a public session Wednesday before going behind closed doors to discuss next steps. President Michael V. Drake has the final say on whether Meyer keeps his job or faces other consequences. No timetable was given for final resolution of the matter.
Michigan: The Wolverines will start QB Shea Patterson in the season opener at Notre Dame, coach Jim Harbaugh announced.
Louisville: Redshirt sophomore Tobias Little will probably miss the season after suffering an unspecified knee injury. The Atlanta native had 27 yards rushing on nine carries and one reception for 24 yards last season. He was projected to be part of a backfield rotation expected to shoulder much of the offensive workload following the departure of 2016 Heisman Trophy-winning QB Lamar Jackson. Louisville opens the season Sept. 1 against Alabama in Orlando.
Minnesota: Named freshman walk-on Zack Annexstad as its starting QB.
Wisconsin: WR Quintez Cephus was charged with felony sexual assault, accused of assaulting two women at his apartment on April 22. Cephus, a junior from Macon, Ga., was suspended by the team shortly after he was charged with third-degree sexual assault and second-degree sex assault of an intoxicated victim. Cephus, 20, said earlier he was taking a leave of absence from the team and that he denied any wrongdoing.
Bowl games: The Cactus Bowl is now the Cheez-It Bowl under a new multiyear title sponsorship deal. The Dec. 26 game at Chase Field in Phoenix is between Pac-12 and Big 12 teams.
