Best way to deal with ‘pesky’ mole

-

Question :Ihavea pesky mole? What should I do about it – just take it off?

Answer: I recently performed a breast augmentation on a patient and at the same time she asked me to remove a mole in her armpit. It had been bothering her for years because it disrupted her shaving and would occasionally bleed. Her breast augmentation results were amazing and she loved her new look, but I think she was almost as happy with the simple mole removal! It changed her daily routine and in an instant, something that bothered her for years was gone.

I find many patients have similar experiences. I’m always surprised when someone shows up and says, “I’ve wanted that mole taken off my whole life – thanks!” The procedure for excision of moles, skin tags or old scars can sometimes take as little as 15 or 20 minutes. They can be performed under local anesthesia with no pain and no downtime, or they can be added to another cosmetic procedure a patient may be scheduled to have while under anesthesia. Patients are so pleased and shocked that this pesky skin irritation is gone in minutes.

The other request I often get from patients is the desire to get rid of freckles or brownish sun spots on their face. Many of our patients of a certain age used to tan with baby oil instead of using proper sun protection and now they think they’re stuck with the bad choices they made 30 or 40 years ago. These days, with an intense pulse light (IPL) laser procedure, we can remove these age spots and small red vessels with no wounds and no downtime. It might take a few treatments to get the perfect result, but it’s also the easiest and least expensive laser treatment available.

So if you’ve been thinking for a while about those brown spots or that pesky mole on your face, arm, belly or anywhere on your body, make an appointment for a complimentary cosmetic consultation. It’s time!
