Brandon’s in Greene-owned hotel cited
State inspectors shut down restaurant for slightly more than a day.
PALM BEACH — A restaurant inside a hotel owned by Palm Beach billionaire and former Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jeff Greene was shut down temporarily last week after failing state inspections.
Brandon’s Palm Beach, a fine-dining restaurant inside Tideline Ocean Resort & Spa at 2842 South Ocean Boulevard, was closed at lunchtime Aug. 21 after inspectors with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation found live roaches, improperly stored food and expired food, among other violations, according to records.
The resort and restaurant are managed by North Palm Beachbased Driftwood Hospitality Management.
Inspectors found a total of 23 violations, including six that were considered high-priority. Four intermediate violations and 13 basic violations also were found. The restaurant was closed at 11:35 a.m., DBPR spokesperson Rose Hebert said.
The restaurant reopened at 4:30 p.m. the following day after two additional inspections.
“There was minimal guest impact, and the issue was resolved quickly,” said Nora Minichino, corporate communications manager for Driftwood.
Minichino said a small number of insects was found near the kitchen after a broken pipe was excavated underneath the hotel. Pest control was called immediately, she said.
A reinspection will be conducted by Sept. 5 or later, Hebert said.
Greene bought Tideline, formerly known as the Omphoy Ocean Resort, in 2011. In 2017 he parted ways with Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants, the management company he selected three years earlier to run the 134-room oceanfront resort.
