KAISER, Joanne K.

Dr. Joanne K. Kaiser, age 78, formerly of Palm Beach Shores, FL, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 6, 2018, at Brookdale Assisted Living in Tequesta, FL. Joanne was born March 23, 1940, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Beatrice W. and John G. Kaiser, Sr. Joanne grew up in Norwalk, Ohio, where her parents owned and operated Kaiser & Wells Pharmacy. After graduating from Norwalk High School, she attended Allegheny College in Meadville, PA, earning a BA in Education. She later earned her masters and doctorate degrees from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL. After graduating from Allegheny College, Joanne taught school briefly in the Cleveland area, then for the U.S. Department of Defense for five years, teaching in Okinawa, Germany, and Sicily. Upon returning to the U.S. in 1970, she settled in Florida, working for the School District of Palm Beach County as a teacher, principal, Area Superintendent, and Assistant Superintendent of Personnel until her retirement in 2000. Dr. Kaiser was highly respected by everyone she worked with and knew her. She was always student oriented and developed several programs for the betterment of child education, such as the Spanish program at Southboro Elementary that involved both the school and community. Besides being committed to her long career, Joanne was passionate about her golf game and preparing gourmet meals for her friends and family. She was devoted to maintaining her longtime home in Palm Beach Shores, one of the original cottages on Singer Island. Joanne also enjoyed spending time at her timeshare in Key West and joining her siblings for reunions at various locations in the U.S. and Mexico. Joanne was preceded in death by her parents and brother John Jr. She is survived by her brother Albert (Suzanne) Kaiser, sister-in-law Sheila Kaiser, niece Lisa (Mike) Reer, nephew Greg (Katy) Kaiser, grand niece Selah Kaiser, grand nephew Chris Duncan, dear friends Jane Vowell, Darlene Palmer, and Doreen LaDonna, along with numerous other friends, relatives, and former colleagues. A casual celebration of Joanne’s life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, January 19, 2019, at Atlantis Country Club, 190 Atlantis Blvd, Atlantis, FL. A buffet lunch will be served. If desired, memorial contributions may be given to Trustbridge Hospice (trustbridgefoundation.org), the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org), or the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (bcrd.org).
