Wellington, Dwyer look to rebound in Week 3

Week 2 saw Atlantic assert itself as the best team in Palm Beach County, but the Eagles’ reign at the top will be tested by a road trip to the Muck to play Pahokee.

Wellington and Dwyer, the team that Atlantic beat last week, will look to bounce back after disappointing losses, something that Park Vista was able to accomplish in Week 2.

Highlighted games for Week 3 include Dwyer traveling to play Glades Central; Palm Beach Central hosting Miami-Braddock; Wellington against Park Vista and a matchup of unbeatens between Atlantic and Pahokee.

All games are Friday at 6 p.m., unless noted.

West Boca Raton (0-2) at Santaluces (0-2), today, 6 p.m.: Both teams have had trouble scoring, combining for only 13 points in their four games. I’ve got the Chiefs in a tight, low-scoring affair.

Santaluces 12-10 Centennial (2-0) at Royal Palm Beach (0-2), today, 6 p.m.: Royal Palm Beach is still rebuilding under first-year head coach Davis Lowery and a matchup against a talented Centennial squad may be too much to handle.

Centennial 42-7

Hillel North Miami Beach (0-1) at Boca Raton Christian (0-2), today, 7 p.m.: The Blazers have shown they can put up some points and are a year removed from a 29-0 win over Hillel North Miami Beach.

Boca Raton Christian 31-0

Pembroke Pine Charter (0-2) at St. John Paul II (0-2), today, 7 p.m.: Coming off a competitive 34-24 game against Saint Andrew’s, it seems Pembroke Pines Charter has enough talent to get by the Eagles.

Pembroke Pines Charter 28-17

Pembroke Pines-Somerset Academy (1-1) at Somerset Canyons (1-1), Friday, 4 p.m.: In the battle of the Somerset Academys, Pembroke Pines has the advantage after 45-14 win over Boca Raton Christian.

Pembroke Pines-Somerset Academy 38-31

Fort Pierce Westwood (1-1) at Jupiter (1-1): Fort Pierce Westwood’s loss this season came against a talented Centennial team, so I’m giving them a slight edge.

Fort Pierce Westwood 33-27

Miami-Braddock (0-1) at Palm Beach Central (1-1): The Broncos offense got rolling last week against Miami-Ferguson and I expect them to continue to improve against another Miami opponent.

Palm Beach Central 27-17

Lake Worth (0-1) at Palm Beach Gardens (2-0): It will be difficult for the Trojans to stop David Studstill and a Gators offense that continues to put up big numbers.

Palm Beach Gardens 45-6

Wellington (1-1) at Park Vista (1-1): Two talented teams with early season setbacks will face off as the Wolverines visit the Cobras. I think Wellington will respond, but I’m favoring the Cobras slightly at home.

Park Vista 24-21 Atlantic (2-0) at Pahokee (1-0): Both teams are very talented and state title contenders, as proved by their early season performances. As great as Pahokee is, it’s hard to pick against Atlantic right now.

Atlantic 20-17 Boynton Beach (0-1) at Boca Raton (1-1): Boynton Beach played a good Olympic Heights team to a close loss, but Boca Raton and Michael Pratt have a slight edge.

Boca Raton 24-12

John I. Leonard (0-1) at Forest Hill (2-0): The Lancers lost big to a good Palm Beach Gardens team in Week 1, while the Falcons continue to take care of business. Forest Hill may be too hot to slow down. Forest Hill 34-6 Spanish River (0-2) at Suncoast (0-2): Both teams have stumbled out of the gate, but this should be a competitive game. Spanish River 20-18 Cardinal Newman (2-0) at Olympic Heights (2-0): The Lions have been hot and cold this year. Cardinal Newman provides their stiffest test, but I believe the Lions will be able to withstand the challenge. Olympic Heights 31-29 Dwyer (1-1) at Glades Central (1-1): These teams have been on both sides of the spectrum in the season’s opening weeks, either registering an impressive win or a big loss. I’m giving Dwyer a slight edge on the road. Dwyer 28-27 Tampa-Cambridge Christian (0-2) at Village Academy (0-2), Friday, 7 p.m.: Village Academy hasn’t found the end zone yet this season, but it should against a winless Tampa-Cambridge Christian team that has allowed 44 points in two games.

Tampa-Cambridge Christian 24-12

Inlet Grove (2-0) at St. Andrew’s (1-1), Friday, 7 p.m.: The Hurricanes have started the season hot and may be able to ride that momentum to a win over the Scots.

Inlet Grove 23-20 Benjamin (2-0) at LaSalle (1-1), Friday, 7 p.m.: Benjamin is establishing itself as one of the best teams in its class, but will be tested against LaSalle. Benjamin 28-13 Berean Christian (1-1) at Holy Trinity (0-2), Friday, 7 p.m.: Berean Christian came up short against an improved Inlet Grove squad last week, but has an opportunity to bounce back.

Berean Christian 20-17 King’s Academy (2-0) at Glades Day (1-1), Friday, 7 p.m.: The Lions show no signs of slowing down, especially after last week’s 41-21 win over John Carroll King’s Academy 33-6 Jupiter Christian (1-0) at Pinecrest Prep (0-2), Saturday, 4:30 p.m.: Pinecrest Prep has been shut out twice to start the season, and that trend may continue against a good Eagles team.

Jupiter Christian 49-0
