HUGE COUNTY ADOPT-A-PET EVENT ON SATURDAY
WEST PALM BEACH — If you’ve been pondering the idea of adding a four-legged member to your family, you’re in luck.
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, the fifth annual Countdown 2 Zero (C2Z) Adoption Event will take place at the South Florida Fairgrounds-Expo Center, 9067 Southern Blvd. The event is the county’s largest annual pet adoption event, featuring hundreds of animals including dogs, cats, puppies, kittens and rabbits.
Countdown 2 Zero is presented by The Lois Pope LIFE Foundation Inc. and organized by the Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League and Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control. The event is the result of a collaboration among more than 20 local rescue groups whose mission is to save the lives of and find homes for Palm Beach County animals.
Over 1,000 animals have found their forever homes since Countdown 2 Zero was launched, according to a press release.
“We would, of course, love to see every animal adopted,” Rich Anderson, executive director and CEO of Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League. “But the bottom line is that each one that does go home with a new, loving family means one more life has been saved. This event – and the Countdown 2 Zero initiative – is all about saving lives.”
Both admission and parking are free, and many of the rescue groups will be on site to offer special discounts and adoption incentives. In addition, new pet parents will receive swag bags filled with gifts that include complimentary rabies tags from Animal Care & Control.
Rescue partners for the event are the Adopt A Cat Foundation, Animal Rescue Force of South Florida, Barky Pines Animal Rescue & Sanctuary, Big Dog Ranch Rescue, Compassionate Pug Rescue, East Coast Rabbit Rescue, Elite Greyhound Adoptions Inc., Forgotten Florida Felines, Furry Friends Adoption, Clinic & Ranch, Great Dane Rescue of South Florida, Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida, Loxahatchee Animal Rescue Community, Luv-A-Pet, Mr. Jojo’s Rescue, Palm Beach County Animal Care & Control, Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League, Rising Star Rottweiler Rescue, Save a Pet Florida Inc., and Tri-County Animal Rescue.
Additional partners include American Humane, Dolly’s Dream, Loxahatchee Lost and Found Pets and South Florida Link Coalition.
Although the event is all about the animals, organizers ask that people leave pets they already have at home.
