THINGS TO DO
1. MG Productions Car Show: It’s set for 6-9 p.m. Thursday at Lake Worth Beach, 10 S. Ocean Blvd. Thursday’s show will have a lot of classics along with new school cars. The amount of cars varies, ranging from 40 to as high as 80. Prices can go as high as $2 million for a new Bugatti Chiron.
2. Beginning Acting — Taught by Samantha McCue: Monday-Dec. 3, Mondays 4:15-5:15 p.m.; ages 7 and over. $195 and $185.50 for siblings. The class is designed to prepare students for auditions, performance and life skills — such as confidence, communication (verbal and nonverbal), listening and focusing and the ability to share ideas creatively. It is also designed for the beginning actor. Students will learn the fundamentals of acting through exercises in imagination, body movement, voice and improvisation. Students will learn how to perform a monologue and scene work. Students will perform a showcase on the Lake Worth Playhouse main stage. To register, click here.
3. Neil Simon’s Barefoot in the Park: Auditions are at 7 p.m. Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Sept. 25 at The Lake Worth Playhouse, 713 Lake Avenue. Prepare a two-minute comedic monologue. You may be asked to read from the script. Paul and Corie Bratter are newlyweds in every sense of the word. He’s a straight-as-an-arrow lawyer and she’s a free spirit always looking for the latest kick. Their new apartment is her most recent find — too expensive with bad plumbing and in need of a paint job. After a six-day honeymoon, they get a surprise visit from Corie’s loopy mother and decide to play matchmaker during a dinner with their neighbor-in-the-attic, Velasco, where everything that can go wrong, does. Performance dates are Nov. 16-Dec. 2.
