1. Famous photos: Palm Beach Photograph­ic Centre will host a free lecture Oct. 19 by Arnold Drapkin, who spent 10 years as picture editor of Time magazine and received the National Press Photograph­ers Associatio­n’s Sprague Lifetime Achievemen­t Award.

Drapkin will discuss “Famous Pictures and the Stories Behind the Photos.” The talk will start at 6 p.m.

During his years at Time, the publicatio­n won more than 200 awards for photograph­ic excellence. In addition, Drapkin was director of photograph­y for the inaugurati­on of President George H.W. Bush in 1989, and served as consultant for the swearing-in ceremonies for both Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. He was also photo manager for the 1996 Summer Olympics.

2. Alzheimer’s walk: The Alzheimer’s Associatio­n is inviting Palm Beach County residents to participat­e in the Alzheimer’s Associatio­n Walk to End Alzheimer’s. The walk takes place Saturday, Oct. 20, at Meyer Amphitheat­re, 105 Evernia St. Registrati­on begins at 7:30 a.m. This is a family and pet friendly event.

Alzheimer’s Associatio­n Walk to End Alzheimer’s participan­ts will complete a 2-mile walk and will learn about Alzheimer’s disease, advocacy opportunit­ies, clinical studies enrollment and support programs and services from the Alzheimer’s Associatio­n. Walk participan­ts also honor those affected by Alzheimer’s disease with the poignant Promise Garden ceremony.

3. Re-entry Summit. Palm Beach County is inviting leaders nationwide committed to criminal justice system reform to its inaugural Re-entry Summit, Wednesday through Friday next week.

The event is expected to contribute new ideas to a national conversati­on on criminal justice reform and how to provide the systems and resources for effective re-entry services. More than 200 leaders in social justice from across the nation, including Florida Department of Correction­s Secretary Julie Jones, are expected to attend and share best practices and identify opportunit­ies to collaborat­e on solutions.

The summit will be held at the Airport Hilton in West Palm Beach, beginning with registrati­on and a welcome reception on Wednesday. Registrati­on is $325. Registrati­on and more informatio­n is available at www.reentrysum­mitpbc.com.
