1. Famous photos: Palm Beach Photographic Centre will host a free lecture Oct. 19 by Arnold Drapkin, who spent 10 years as picture editor of Time magazine and received the National Press Photographers Association’s Sprague Lifetime Achievement Award.
Drapkin will discuss “Famous Pictures and the Stories Behind the Photos.” The talk will start at 6 p.m.
During his years at Time, the publication won more than 200 awards for photographic excellence. In addition, Drapkin was director of photography for the inauguration of President George H.W. Bush in 1989, and served as consultant for the swearing-in ceremonies for both Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. He was also photo manager for the 1996 Summer Olympics.

2. Alzheimer’s walk: The Alzheimer’s Association is inviting Palm Beach County residents to participate in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s. The walk takes place Saturday, Oct. 20, at Meyer Amphitheatre, 105 Evernia St. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. This is a family and pet friendly event.
Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s participants will complete a 2-mile walk and will learn about Alzheimer’s disease, advocacy opportunities, clinical studies enrollment and support programs and services from the Alzheimer’s Association. Walk participants also honor those affected by Alzheimer’s disease with the poignant Promise Garden ceremony.

3. Re-entry Summit. Palm Beach County is inviting leaders nationwide committed to criminal justice system reform to its inaugural Re-entry Summit, Wednesday through Friday next week.
The event is expected to contribute new ideas to a national conversation on criminal justice reform and how to provide the systems and resources for effective re-entry services. More than 200 leaders in social justice from across the nation, including Florida Department of Corrections Secretary Julie Jones, are expected to attend and share best practices and identify opportunities to collaborate on solutions.
The summit will be held at the Airport Hilton in West Palm Beach, beginning with registration and a welcome reception on Wednesday. Registration is $325. Registration and more information is available at www.reentrysummitpbc.com.
