CAR CRASH KILLS 2 AT APARTMENT COMPLEX
All seven inside the dwelling escape unhurt; families feel their homes shake.
Two men are dead after their car slammed into a home in a Greenacres-area apartment complex early Wednesday following a reported shooting, the Palm Beach County Sheriff ’s Office said.
At about 3 a.m. families inside the 12-unit building in the Palo Verde apartment complex that sits parallel to Forest Hill Boulevard said they felt their homes shake.
Sixteen-year-old Mike Macadieu was asleep in the unit above where the car crashed. He said he and his father figured the A/C had exploded.
The John I. Leonard High School student said they walked onto their balcony and saw the smoking car.
Neighbor Jose Soto said the seven people who were inside the apartment — two parents, two children and three guests visiting from Honduras — weren’t injured in the wreck.
He heard the “boom” and arose when his three dogs began yapping, he said. He looked out the window.
A silver Lincoln sedan, which had temporary license plates, was completely inside that family’s living room.
Soto was among dozens of neighbors watching investigators work to remove the car from the home early Wednesday.
Authorities evacuated that building because of fears of structural damage, Soto said.
Sheriff ’s investigators haven’t said how the men died.
