Lake Worth man sues estate over fatal crash
WESTPALMBEACH— The husband of a 49-year-old Lake Worth woman who died in a head-on collision on 10th Avenue North in January is suing the estate of the man who also died in the crash.
In the lawsuit filed last week in Palm Beach County Circuit Court, widower Jose Grisales claims the late Francisco Cabello was negligent in the accident that claimed the life of Grisales’ wife, Dalia Jimenez. He is suing Cabello’s estate and the late Greenacres man’s employer, Sea & Sky Construction. The company owned the truck he was driving. Grisales is seeking an unspecified amount in damages, according to the lawsuit filed by attorney Gregory Yaffa.
Palm Beach County sheriff ’s deputies said the 33-yearold Cabello was driving a 2008 Chevrolet pickup west on 10th Avenue North in Greenacres when the truck crossed into the eastbound lanes. The truck crashed head-on into the Mazda that Jimenez was driving. Both Cabello, of Greenacres, and Jimenez died.
Grisales is also suing Miguel Espada and his employer, Delray Foodservice, in connection with the collision. Espada was driving a box truck behind Jimenez’s Mazda, deputies said. It was also involved in the crash.
Yaffa is accusing the 54-year-old Espada of negligence, claiming he was speeding and following too closely. Deputies concluded Cabello was speeding and therefore responsible for the crash.
