Ex-girlfriend makes new allegations against Bills’ McCoy

-

LeSean McCoy’s ex-girlfriend says in a new court filing that the Buffalo Bills running back physically abused her and orchestrated a home invasion that left her beaten and bloodied.

Delicia Cordon on Tuesday filed an amended lawsuit against McCoy alleging physical abuse during their nearly two-year relationship. She also accuses him of arranging a July 10 attack at a home McCoy owns in Milton, Ga., just outside Atlanta, where Cordon lived. The armed intruder demanded specific pieces of jewelry McCoy had given Cordon and repeatedly asked her to return, the lawsuit said.

The amended lawsuit seeks more than $50 million in damages.

Cordon and McCoy began dating in June 2016, but problems began following the 2016 NFL season when he became physically abusive, the amended lawsuit says.

“He would often grab (Cordon) in a manner that was painful and would leave (her) skin reddened,” it says. “McCoy did not care who was around when he would become enraged.”

McCoy has repeatedly proclaimed his innocence and did so again when speaking to reporters after practice Wednesday.

“I can’t control that,” he said when asked about Cordon’s new allegations. “The only thing I can do is focus on my team, try and get better, and let things off the field take care of themselves.”

Milton police have not arrested anyone in the home invasion. They said in a statement last month that detectives had “encountered numerous obstacles by all involved” and had noticed multiple inconsistencies from people who had provided statements. In an automatic response to an email seeking an update Wednesday, Capt. Charles Barstow said “despite multiple requests, Mr. McCoy has been unavailable to speak directly to detectives.”

Jaguars: Ruled out running back Leonard Fournette four days before the team’s game at Kansas City. Coach Doug Marrone announced that Fournette and cornerback D.J. Hayden (toe) will miss the road game Sunday.

Fournette re-injured his right hamstring in a victory against the Jets last Sunday. Considering he missed two and a half games after initially tweaking it and came back too soon, the Jaguars are expected to be more cautious this time around.

Bengals: Linebacker Vontaze Burfict, who has been suspended repeatedly in his career, rejoined the team after completing a four-game ban for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancers. Burfict practiced Wednesday and is expected to play Sunday when the Bengals host the Dolphins.

49ers: Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo had surgery Wednesday to repair the ACL in his left knee. Coach Kyle Shanahan said he didn’t know whether any additional damage needed to be repaired or whether Garoppolo would be recovered in time for the offseason program next spring.

Colts: Right tackle Denzelle Good will be one of seven players who will not play tonight at New England. Good’s brother, Overton, was killed in an alleged drive-by shooting in South Carolina earlier this week. Also out will be Pro Bowl tight end Jack Doyle (hip) and fourtime Pro Bowl receiver T.Y. Hilton (hamstring).

Raiders: Placed right tackle Donald Penn on injured reserve with a groin injury. Coach Jon Gruden said the team is hopeful Penn can return later this season.

Jets: Wide receiver Robby Anderson will not be suspended by the NFL for two arrests in an eight-month span. The league said it completed its investigation into the incidents and the matter has been addressed, and no suspension is being issued.

Falcons: Expect to have running back Devonta Freeman return for Sunday’s game at Pittsburgh after missing three games with a sore right knee.

Rams: Signed kicker Cairo Santos with All-Pro Greg Zuerlein nursing a groin injury.
